Tenex for Chronic Foot, Heel, and Ankle Pain
Developed in collaboration with the MAYO Clinic, Tenex Health TX® is a minimally invasive technology for the treatment of chronic tendon pain, combining ultrasound imaging with our advanced TX MicroTip technology to eliminate damaged tissue that causes pain.
Tenex for Plantar Fasciitis, Tendinitis and Ankle Pain
Tenex has been clinically proven to reduce tendinitis in the ankle as well as plantar fasciitis in the foot. Patients experience decreased pain and improved functionality without any surgery. This treatment utilizes ultrasound imaging and patented TX MicroTip technology to provide relief with less pain and minimal downtime. While some medications and injections simply mask the painful symptoms of chronic pain, Tenex eliminates the damaged and degenerated tissue that actually causes it.
About the Tenex Procedure in our Wayne, NJ Office
- Tenex is FDA-approved and covered by most insurance, including Medicare.
- Tenex is a quick outpatient procedure that does not require general anesthesia – most patients can drive home right afterwards and many feel pain relief nearly instantly.
- Unlike most medications and injections that relieve painful symptoms but often need multiple courses of treatment, Dr. Kesler uses ultrasound imaging to identify the location of damaged tissue and apply the treatment directly to the affected area, removing the cause of the pain in just one treatment for over 85% of patients.
- After the tissue is located, the affected area will be numbed with a local anesthetic, a minor incision is made, the TX MicroTip is inserted, and ultrasonic energy gently and safely breaks down damaged tissue.
- There are no stitches required – after the procedure, you’ll just receive a adhesive bandage over the small incision.
- Because the ultrasound targets only the damaged tissue, healthy tissue remains undisturbed and the typical recovery time is 6 -8 weeks (just 25% of what is required for open surgery). You may take over-the-counter pain medication, but many patients don’t need it.
- You may need to wear a walking boot for about two weeks, and may need to avoid weight-bearing activities and exercises.
